MANATEE COUNTY, FL (June 9, 2023) – Manatee County is accepting applications for one (1) vacant seat on the Historic Preservation Board.

This citizen’s advisory committee has been established to preserve and protect Manatee County's archaeologically, historically and aesthetically significant sites, districts and zones; to encourage historical and archaeological preservation; to identify historic buildings and sites and archaeological sites in Manatee County; and to ensure appropriate preservation, restoration, renovation, development and adaptive reuse of historical buildings and archaeological sites.

Applicants must be registered voters in Manatee County. While no particular expertise is required, applicants with a demonstrated knowledge of archaeological, historical or architectural development or who have deep concern for the preservation, development and enhancement of historic resources in the County are given additional consideration for an appointment.

Historic Preservation Board members cannot be employed by the County or serve as a member of another land development-related advisory board serving unincorporated Manatee County.

The group meets a minimum of 4 times a year in the Manatee Room, Fifth Floor of Manatee County Administrative Building, 1112 Manatee Avenue West.
