MANATEE COUNTY, FL (September 13, 2022) – Manatee County residents will have an easier time keeping up with the fast-moving infrastructure projects underway across the County with a new tool.
The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) HUB will help provide up-to-date information on some of the most important aspects of significant Manatee County roadway projects, including the following:
- Widening 75th Street West from 2 to 4 lanes from 20th Avenue West to Manatee Avenue
- Widening 59th Street West from 2 to 4 lanes from Cortez Road to Manatee Avenue
- Widening 63rd Avenue East from 2 to 4 lanes from US 301 to Tuttle Avenue
- Widening of Upper Manatee River Rd from 2 to 4 lanes from State Road 64 to Fort Hamer Road
- Widening of Lorraine Road from 2 to 4 lanes from State Road 70 to State Road 64
- Completion of the 2-lane missing link between State Road 70 and State Road 64
“This is a wonderful way for residents to stay up to date on what is happening with these critical infrastructure and transportation initiatives,” said Manatee County Administrator Scott Hopes. “This is important work, and it’s important to show this progress.”
Using the latest in mapping technology and interactive functions, the CIP HUB can provide residents with answers to their most frequently asked questions and offer transparency to processes, such as right of way and land acquisition. While introducing the new tool to Manatee County Commissioners, officials highlighted the always-updating information flow.
“This will help us continually communicate important aspects of these projects to stakeholders,” said Public Works Director Chad Butzow. “It will allow residents to drill deep into the details on projects important to them.”
While the CIP HUB is focusing on the ”Big Six” projects (listed above) initially, it is anticipated that this platform will be adapted to include all forthcoming Capital Improvement Projects.
“This looks great,” said District One Commissioner James Satcher. “Citizens are going to love it!”
“The public is going to love it,” echoed District Four Commissioner Misty Servia. “I love it.”
Commission Chair Kevin Van Ostenbridge thanked the Public Works staff for the hard work undertaken to make this a reality. “We Know that we have thrown a ton at your department and we really appreciate all the work that you all are putting into this,” he said. “This is fantastic!”
