MANATEE COUNTY, FL (November 1, 2022) – Manatee County is hosting a Public Information Meeting for an upcoming roadway improvement project on Moccasin Wallow Road from U.S. 41 to U.S. 301. The meeting will be held on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parrish Community High School Auditorium, 7505 Fort Hamer Road, Parrish, 34219. (Originally, this meeting was scheduled for Thursday, November 10.)
The public meeting will provide citizens an opportunity to learn more about the proposed improvements to Moccasin Wallow Road. Guests will be able to view design boards and plans. Project staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide other project-related information. There will be no formal presentation, and those interested may arrive anytime between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
This roadway project will widen 6.5 miles of Moccasin Wallow Road from U.S. 41 to U.S. 301 from two-lanes to six-lanes (three in each direction) when built to its final configuration. The interim phase of the project will widen the roadway from two lanes to four lanes (two in each direction), separated by a raised-grass median. A 12-foot-wide multi-use path will be constructed on the north side of Moccasin Wallow Road in addition to a six-foot-wide sidewalk on the south side and seven-foot wide bicycle lanes in each direction. Median openings will be provided to allow residential access, and stormwater run-off will be collected and treated in linear ponds along the project roadway.
