Manatee County DOH, Public Safety announce vaccination availability for seniors 65 & older

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Dec. 29, 2020) – Local Department of Health and Public Safety officials today announced plans for the public distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to seniors ages 65 and older.

During a press conference today the Department of Health in Manatee County and Manatee County Public Safety officials announced that vaccinations will be available for anyone ages 65 and older beginning tomorrow. Online appointments for Wednesday and Thursday quickly filled today at 10 a.m. for the first two days of vaccinations at the Public Safety Center.

The vaccine drive-thru will move to Bennett Park, 400 Cypress Creek Boulevard, Bradenton, from Friday, Jan. 1 through Monday, Jan. 4. Online appointments for the Bennett Park dates are available at www.mymanatee.org/vaccine

Both vaccination locations will be drive-thru events. Drivers should follow prompts on site and remain in your vehicle unless asked to do so by staff.

Manatee County Government will announce additional dates, locations and online appointment availability each Monday at 2 p.m., when additional vaccinations are available.

Dr. Jennifer Bencie, County Health Officer for the Florida Department of Health in Manatee County, Manatee County EMS Chief James Crutchfield and Emergency Management Chief Steve Litschauer explained the online registration and appointment booking process and answered questions during a virtual press conference where 300 people were in attendance.

Anyone ages 65 and older may register for an online appointment and patients should remain in Manatee County to receive a second round shot, 28 days after your first appointment. There are no special accommodations for patients with preexisting conditions at this time.

Seniors are asked to download and complete the Department of Health COVID-19 Vaccine Screening and Consent Form at www.mymanatee.org/vaccine and bring it to your appointment in order to be vaccinated. After filling the out the form, register for a specific appointment time.

After those two steps are complete, seniors may bring the consent form, registration confirmation and a valid ID (showing age 65 or older) to your appointment.
