Manatee County first responders drill scheduled for March 20

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (March 8, 2019) — Emergency officials and first responders from around Manatee County will take part in a convoy from central Manatee County to Duette on Wednesday, March 20 for a simulated tornado exercise being held two months before the start of Hurricane Season.

Manatee County Emergency Management, Manatee County EMS, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Bradenton Police, Public Works, 911/ECC, Fire Chiefs' Association, Florida Department of Health’s Manasota Medical Reserve Corps, All-Hazard Incident Management, Manatee Memorial Hospital, Manatee County Search & Rescue, Florida Power & Light, Peace River Electric Coop and the fire departments from Parrish, Cedar Hammock, East Manatee, Longboat Key Fire Department and Duette are expected to take part in the exercise.

The exercise will mimic a tornado incident in the town of Mosaic in northeast Manatee County. The exercise will run from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The convoy of emergency vehicles will depart Manatee County Public Works building at 1022 26th Ave E, Bradenton at 8:30 a.m. and travel to Duette Preserve off State Road 62.
