Manatee County, Department of Health in Manatee host open house for Cat Town, renovated Department of Health next week
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (May 24, 2019) — The public is invited to tour the renovated Department of Health in Manatee and the new downtown Cat Town adoption facility next week.
Manatee County's new downtown Cat Town at 216 6th Ave. E., which replaces the Downtown Meowtown as Bradenton's feline adoption facility, will hold an open house from 3 - 5 p.m. Friday, May 31.
"Our popular cat adoption facility is getting a new, larger home right down the street where there will be indoor and outdoor areas for adoptable cats and kittens to walk," said County Administrator Cheri Coryea. "We've repurposed an old building that had only been used for storage into an adoption facility we think the community will love."
"We are pleased to showcase the new and improved Cat Town," said Manatee County Animal Services Chief Sarah Brown. "This will serve as a more enriched and entertaining environment for our cat population as well a more comfortable setting for our volunteers and those wishing to adopt."
Department of Health (DOH) renovations will be on display during a 3 - 5 p.m. open house and tour of the building at 410 6th Ave E, Bradenton. During the open house, County and DOH officials also invite visitors to see the Manatee Square Garden, to explore the new Health Coach and Medical Reserve Corps response trailer and discover how WIC helps families stay healthy and strong.
"We have been hard at work improving our facilities, and we are ready to show them off," said Dr. Jennifer Bencie, County Health Officer for the Florida Department of Health in Manatee County.
