Manatee County accepting applications for Construction Trades Board

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Jan. 14, 2022) — Manatee County has the following openings for the Construction Trades Board. The purpose of the Construction Trades Board is to regulate state and local contractors and license local contractors within unincorporated Manatee County.

The Construction Trades Board shall have the authority to discipline persons who violate applicable local code, State Statutes or Florida Building Code provisions pertaining to the activities of licensed contractors, including the authority to suspend and or revoke their licenses and impose monetary fines.

Seat #1 – Licensed General Contractor

Description of eligible applicants: Contractor must have five years of experience in the construction trade and hold an active license as a Licensed General Contractor with Department of Business and Professional Regulation or Registered with an active Certificate of Competency license in Manatee County. Applicants must reside or have a business located in the unincorporated areas of Manatee County. Must be willing to serve in a voluntary capacity.

Seat #2 – Licensed Commercial Swimming Pool Contractor

Description of eligible applicants: Contractor must have five years of experience in the construction trade and hold an active license as a Licensed Commercial Swimming Pool Contractor with Department of Business and Professional Regulation or Registered with an active Certificate of Competency license in Manatee County. Applicants must reside or have a business located in the unincorporated areas of Manatee County. Must be willing to serve in a voluntary capacity.

Seat #5 - Consumer Representative

Consumer Representative may be any resident of the local jurisdiction who is not, and has never been, a member or practitioner of a profession regulated by the board or a member of any closely related profession.

Seat #6 - Consumer Representative

Consumer Representative may be any resident of the local jurisdiction who is not, and has never been, a member or practitioner of a profession regulated by the board or a member of any closely related profession.

Applications are due February 28 and may be found online.

The group meets on the 2nd Wednesday (and 4th Wednesday as needed) of each month at 3 p.m. at the Board of County Commissioners Chamber located at 1112 Manatee Ave West, Bradenton, FL 34205.
