MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Sept. 17, 2018) – Manatee and Sarasota drivers now have two new resources to check before heading onto the road for commutes each day. A new Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC) Traveler Information website, www.smarttrafficinfo.org and Twitter handle @941_Traffic give local drivers a more accurate picture of local traffic conditions than ever before.

The new site, launched last week, offers live views of more than 470 intersections across two counties from 220 cameras across the region.

The TMC's Twitter account posts live updates on some of the most significant traffic updates around the region. Both can be accessed from mobile phones and tablets but should not be used while driving.

The Sarasota-Manatee Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC) is the hub for operation, maintenance and monitoring of advanced traffic management systems in the two-county area. Staff in the center monitor traffic conditions and can make temporary traffic signal timing changes to ensure traffic flows more smoothly around impacted areas.

The website was funded through grant dollars from the Florida Department of Transportation.
