Veterans working the organic farm at EastersealsVeterans and their friends are invited to join Operation Eco Vets’ Farm Brigade, a group of volunteers that meets once a month on Saturday mornings to help maintain the Easterseals' Organic Farm.

Operation Eco Vets is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help Veterans grow food and experience nature to heal from wounds of war and sacrifice in order to live a more abundant civilian life. The idea began with the Green Path Veterans Farm project made possible by the Florida Veterans for Common Sense Fund,

In partnership with Easterseals, EcoVets developed a certified organic farm at Easterseals’ Happiness House (Sarasota), a regenerative Food Forest and the Healing Sensory garden for veterans and Easterseals VIP Academy for children with disabilities.

In addition to learning about growing in Florida, Veterans can receive free plants and seeds. Free lunch and refreshments are served after every volunteer day.

The farm is located at 350 Braden Ave, Sarasota, 34243. The next event is Saturday, January 23, from 9 AM to Noon, and the group is planning to meet on Third Saturdays in the months that follow.

While social distancing is maintained, masks are not required to be worn outside.
