Manatee County's landfill is located south of State Road 64, 1 mile east of I-75 at:

Hours of operation: Monday - Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m

The landfill is closed the following holidays: New Year's Eve Saturday, December 31, 2022, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day Thursday, November 24, 2022, Christmas Eve Saturday, December 24, 2022.

The following materials are accepted at the landfill for a fee: scrap metal, tires, yard waste, appliances and household garbage.

The following materials are accepted at the Landfill for free: electronic waste (E-scrap) and household hazardous waste (HHW).

Household Hazardous Waste Monday through Friday from 8am – 5pm and every 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., from residents only. For the safety of our customers and staff, the handling of items has changed. Customers will be required to unload items from their vehicles with direction from staff on where to place items. Social distancing of 6 feet will be practiced by both staff and customers.

Construction and demolition material may be brought to the Landfill and may also be taken to various recycling facilities located within Manatee County.

 

Tipping Fees

Standard waste, including yard trash and white goods
  • Cars without trailers: $5/car
  • All other vehicles: $40.00/ton
  • Minimum fee: $20.00 
Construction and demolition debris: $61.00/ton (minimum fee: $30.50)
 
Tires: $86.00/ton (minimum fee: $43)

Ash residue, sludge, contaminated soil, asbestos, and other non-standard waste: $61.00/ton (minimum fee: $30.50)

Mixed loads or loads that are insufficiently covered to prevent load loss during transportation will be charged double the fees above.  

Holiday Closings

The landfill will be closed on the following holidays 2023.

  • President's Day - February 20th 
  • Memorial Day - May 29th 
  • 4th of July - July 4th
  • Labor Day - September 4th
  • Thanksgiving Day - November 23rd 
  • Christmas Day - December 25th

Guidelines for Using the Landfill

All vehicles entering the Landfill must go across the scales at the Scalehouse.

All fees are determined by:

  • TYPE OF MATERIAL – such as yard waste, tires, household garbage, etc.
  • WEIGHT OF MATERIAL
  • ORIGIN – Waste brought from outside of Manatee County will be charged TRIPLE the fee.

Fees will be DOUBLED for the following:

  • Improperly covered loads.
  • Improperly separated loads. Examples: Yard waste cannot be mixed with regular garbage. Tires cannot be mixed with regular garbage.

Payments can be made by cash, check and all major credit cards.

Vehicles with low ground clearance are discouraged.

Be aware of other vehicles, workers on foot, equipment, traffic control devices and overhead obstructions.

Scavenging is prohibited at any location at the Landfill.

Obey all posted signs.

Landfill Statistics

Currently Lena Road Landfill is projected to be used for the next 20 years. In Fiscal Year 2022 the following amounts were actually processed through the Landfill:

  • Annual Landfilled material- 349,707.07 tons
  • Average daily landfilled material- 1,142.83 tons
  • Annual recycled material – 49,859.96 tons
  • Daily recycled average- 162.64 tons
  • Annual Diverted material- 37,618.74 tons
  • Daily diverted average- 121.42 tons
